![]() ![]() The series has been praised for its open-world gameplay, its satirical take on post-apocalyptic settings, and its dark humor.ĭespite the changes that have taken place in the world of Fallout over the years, one thing has remained constant: war never changes. The most recent entry in the series is Fallout 4, which was released in 2015. The first Fallout game was released in 1997 and was followed by sequels and spin-offs. The games follow the adventures of the player character as they try to survive in this new world. The one constant in all of the games is that “war never changes.” The games are set in a world where nuclear war has destroyed civilization and the survivors are left to fend for themselves in a hostile world. Does every Fallout game start with war never changesįallout is a series of post-apocalyptic video games that has spanned multiple generations. In the very long view, all wars are the same. The results of war are also the same: death and destruction. This is because the reasons for war have remained the same for centuries: fear, power and wealth. It is often said that war never changes, only the weapons do. Because war never changes.” – Ulysses Grant “I have never advocated war except as means of peace, so seek peace, but prepare for war. It is a sad reality that war is a part of our world, but it is something that we must do our best to prevent. It's a very hobbesian take on human nature, but seeing the state of the fallout world I can't really blame them for it.“War, war never changes.” This phrase is often used to describe the horror and devastation that war brings. It's there no matter what's around it and no matter what we do. So war as in violence and abuse has always been there, and it doesn't look as if it's going to go away any time soon, so it never changes. So yeah it's basically what you said it was, even if the world has ended, no excuse for violence is as good as any excuse for violence. Greed, violence and abuse still reign, as they seem to always have. So, seeing how the world after the end of the world still carries the same attitudes and practices that lead to its end, the whole picture gets even darker. It shows the rotted corpse of a society and it makes its failure clear. The tone of that game is much darker and depressing than the rest of the franchise, it's not too long ago since the bombs fell after all, so the state of the wasteland is much worse and everybody is at each others throat. ![]() I think it's really a comment on the situation the games are set in, and I think it makes the most sense in the context of Fallout 1. r/galaxynewsradio - Fallout-sounding music r/falloutcosplayers - Fallout-related cosplay r/Wasteland - A subreddit for the Wasteland games. r/thefalloutdiaries - Journal-like fan fiction. r/falloutmods - Fallout modding community r/classicfallout - Classic Fallout Games ![]() r/falloutlore - The lore of the Fallout series Piracy is a permanent ban, no warnings.Īll posts and comments in end, come down to moderator discretion.
